LAWRENCE J. ERNSTPartner
After graduation from law school in 1961, Larry Ernst served in the military as Battalion Adjutant, handling legal defenses and prosecutions under military law. He joined Christovich & Kearney in 1963, and has devoted his career to a trial practice mainly in the fields of maritime and offshore litigation, railroad law, trucking and transportation law, products liability, mass tort and catastrophic accident matters, involving both personal injury and property damage. He has extensive trial and court room experience in district and appellate courts, state and federal. He is admitted to practice in all federal district courts of Louisiana, as well as before the United States Supreme Court.
Mr. Ernst has been active in many defense organizations over the years. He has served on the Lawyers Advisory Committee to the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit on matters dealing with the court’s rules and procedures.
In 2009, Mr. Ernst was awarded the Camille F. Gravel Pro Bono Award by the Federal Bar Association in recognition of his extensive pro bono service in a capital post conviction matter.
